Wellington Canoe and Kayak Club

The AGM for the Wellington Canoe and Kayak Club was held in July with an attendance of 16 canoeists. It was resolved that the membership for 2011/2012 year would be $20 each.

The Canoe Club attended the St Mary’s fete with a couple of kayaks.

There were many contacts with people wanting to know about the club or towns-folk either wanted to buy a second-hand kayak or had one for sale.

We are trying to put together an inventory of kayaks for sale or those who want to buy and leave at the GDM shop in Nanima Crescent. Contact the undersigned for inquiries.

Another Dubbo Canoe Club (Wondomnom Club) is organising a canoe trip from Wellington to Narromine on December 2, 3 and 4 and is inviting other canoeists/kayakers to join with them.

Final details are yet to be organised. I’m not going to commit the club to the paddle but aim to assist in a small way as the day gets closer.

Pointer K1, as the name implies has a very pointed bow and stern and this, combined with 2 skegs, and a flat bottom construction make for a great touring Kayak. The boat tracks extremely well, better than any other inflatable Kayak. However as all inflatable Kayaks it can also be used on a fast flowing river. Standard equipment is: luggage type storage / carry bag. White water spray cover with apron, large comfortable padded seat, rear cargo hatch with cover, bungee lacing for deck cargo, 4 tie-downs to secure top side cargo or a spare paddle, a bow and stern lifting handle and a water bottle holder.
