Great Recreational Kayak
For those that don't have the space or the budget for a nice fiberglass kayak, the Advanced Elements is the next best thing. Washington Oaks Gardens
In conjunction with the Second Saturday Plant Sale, the Friends of Washington Oaks will celebrate the restoration of Louise P. Young's greenhouse and an Orchid extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, 6400 N. Oceanshore Blvd. At 11 a.m. George Hausermann Jr., fourth generation orchid grower and internationally renowned hybridizer, will give a presentation. Entry is free. Weekend activities will conclude on Nov. 13 with a Tim Rippey Benefit Concert for the Gardens. Prior to the concert there will be self-guided tours of the Historic District, food and beverage vendors, and the plant stand and gift shop will also be open. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a ground breaking ceremony for the new stage. At 4 p.m. the winners of the Silent Auction will be announced. Cost is $15 for the concert and includes park admission.
