  1. Good product, but Amazon is ill-informed
Great product, but........ The manufacturer actually sells this product in three different sizes and Amazon treats it as if there is only one. When you order it, you really don't know which one they will send you. It turned out OK for me because I was able to cut the one they sent down to the...
  2. good addition to kayak
I bought the backbone after taking my AdvancedFrame Expidition kayak out 3 times without it. It definitely helps with efficiency of your boat. Without it, I noticed a lot of flexing over waves and with it I was able to cut through them more easily. Definitely a good purchase. Kind of annoying...

She skied 550 kms to fund an orphanage!

Meet Deeya Suzannah Bajaj, a 17-year-old from Delhi who participated in the Trans-
Greenland Ski Expedition this year to become the youngest Indian to have achieved the feat.

O n May 13, 2011, when Delhi teenager Deeya Suzannah Bajaj , a Class 12 student from Shri Ram School, set out on a cross-country skiing expedition to Greenland, she didn't have the slightest clue what was in store for her in the days to come.

The challenge was to scale 550 kilometres in ice against temperatures that went as low as minus 45 degrees Celsius. Not to forget the crazy winds, blizzards and rough climatic conditions that made things worse for the young girl.

And what was Deeya's purpose in undertaking this challenging expedition? To raise funds to start a new wing for orphaned girls in Haridwar, India. These orphans are in fact the children of leprosy patients, she tells me.

"Due to the social stigma attached to the disease, these kids cannot stay with their parents. The orphanage in Haridwar acts as a home to them. Initially it had only boys, but I thought of starting a separate wing for the girls as well. So, when I was presented the opportunity, I decided to use the expedition to combine my passion for adventure and also achieve my dream," she explains.

Goa Kayaking 5th & 6th Introduction to Kayaking & Taining Program 2010

Goa Kayaking is Goa’s only Kayaking Club and regularly conducts kayaking expeditions for its members and others, along the coast and in the rivers and backwaters, to explore the pristine mangroves, bird sanctuaries and the varied sights that Goa has to offer, but only seen and enjoyed from the water. These are the most environment friendly trips ever being offered in the state and leave absolutely no trace of the visits.
