Right Boat
We got the right boat no problem and free shipping. Since the boat came to me, I could spend a day on the water instead of going to pick it up though if you have time it is good to support local stores. This boat nests reasonably well with the Malibu Two XL so we can carry both stacked upside... -

Fishing the North Coast: Hopes are high for Saturday's sport Dungeness crab opener
For those of us living on the North Coast, the start of our holiday season goes hand in hand with the opening day of Sport Dungeness crab season. Crab and Thanksgiving turkey go together like smoked salmon and an ice-cold Steelhead Double IPA. When the season opens on Saturday, anglers should find good numbers of hungry crab, though they may be a little lighter than normal. The season's first pre-season crab quality test was conducted on Oct. 24 and the results showed the crabs were not quite as meaty as normal for this time of year. According to DFG Senior Marine Biologist Pete Kalvass, who oversees the Invertebrate Management Project, the crabs are probably lighter due to the volume of crab and the competition for food. "The previous season is also a reasonable indicator of the next year's production, but there have been surprises over the years. Indications from last season that there were many crabs just under the legal size bode well for this year, especially in Central California,"
8wt saltwater rod - The North American Fly Fishing Forum
Temple Fork Outfitters Professional Series - $149.99. Best all around rod in the TFO line, fits most people's casting ability. Does fine in the salt, although I prefer the Axiom, TiCr or Teeny series rods in the salt as they are faster. The Pro is fast enough, especially if you're only going to salt once or twice a year, then the Pro is a fine all around 8 wt for whatever you're chasing. You may want to consider one of those shorter "bass" rods for the kayak. They are saltwater safe. They are plenty stiff in the butt section for lifting fish. Plus, it is much easier to land a fish on the boat with its shorter length than the full length of a traditional rod. Two to consider would be a Ross Flystick and the Redington Predator . Bigcliff owns a Predator. He can probably comment on it for you.

Relative newbie to bass fishing. Fly fish for trout in NY Catskills and Delaware river and bass fish from a 13 foot Ocean Kayak Trident in local lakes and will try the Delaware river this year. Don't like using spinning in the kayak sitting down
