We got one with a gauge so we know when we reach the proper psi for the different sections. The kayak comes pretty much assembled so you just inflate and go. Just be sure you inflate it enough. We found it inflates more evenly in the ends (bow & stern)if you alternate filling air in the two outer sections until you get to full inflation.
